January 6, 2021—what a day for the United States of America! Total chaos erupted at the Capitol Building in Washington, DC, during a peaceful protest while the certification of electoral votes was taking place inside the building. The saddest part of all the events that took place was the death of four people (as of the time of this article).

As I lay in bed last night, my heart was broken over the evil that has overtaken so many in our country. Why does it appear as if evil people are winning everything? How can evil be stopped?

The United States of America was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. The nation has been a beacon of Christian light, since its beginning, to the rest of the world. America has shown the world who Jesus is and how to live, as a nation, with God as our leader. Our light no longer shines brightly in the world. Our country has been moving away from God for decades. Yesterday’s events, along with many other events during 2020, told the rest of the world that the USA is absolutely no longer about Jesus Christ.

It appears as though evil is winning in our country. with evil people getting their way in many conflicts. The source of evil is the devil. Too many times, we place the cause of this evil on certain human beings, when in reality, they have only been allowing themselves to be used by the enemy.

Our enemy uses a certain type of weaponry. That weaponry is not physical. Physical armaments are not the way to win against the evil overtaking our nation. The enemy’s weaponry is spiritual.

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up AGAINST the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12

The Church, those of us who trust Jesus as Savior and Lord, must use the spiritual weapons available to us!

We are now, and have been, in a civil war between light and darkness!

This battle is an all-out spiritual war over our country, its people, and our Christianity. The enemy does not want anyone to have the freedom to witness about Jesus Christ! However, we CAN destroy the influence of the enemy.

Christians, let’s pick up our weapons and fight! Let’s know what our weapons are and how to use them effectively!

1. Obedience to God

   “…We must obey God rather than men.” Acts 5:29

2. Knowledge of the Bible, God’s Word

   “I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.” 1 John 2:14

3. The Blood of Jesus and Your Testimony

   “And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.” Revelation 12:11

4. Prayer

   “But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Matthew 5:44

Prayer is where we battle. Prayer is the key to revival. It is difficult to hate someone when you are praying for them.

There are many other weapons God gives to Christians to use in our spiritual battles. As the Holy Spirit brings them to your mind, use them!!

Let us UNITE and fight! We know there will be a final victory, but we are still in the middle of this life and this earth, and we must endure to the end!
